PRESENTATION BY MCKINSEY: ‘LIONS ON THE MOVE II’

  • The ALN Conference will feature a presentation by McKinsey of the sequel to McKinsey’s groundbreaking 2010 report on Africa’s economies. Lions on the move II: Realizing the potential of Africa’s economies is a follow-up report by the McKinsey Global Institute based on extensive new research. It highlights a USD 4 trillion opportunity to serve fast-growing consumer and business markets, and shows what it will take to double Africa's manufacturing output.
  • The report also presents a first-of-its-kind analysis of the continent's 700 largest companies, showing how they can raise their scale for the benefit of customers, employees, shareholders, and entire economies. Finally, the report focuses on key steps for governments - including mobilizing investment, nurturing talent, and strengthening infrastructure - to ensure that Africa's potential is realized.

“The panel sessions were most informative and the networking opportunity was equally valuable.”

“It was truly well organised with quality panels and networking.”

“It is really a wonderful platform for learning, exchanging and making and renewing relationships.”

“We were very impressed with the organization, the caliber of panelists and the venue.”

“It was very well organized and the crowd mix and networking opportunities were impressive.”

About ALN

ALN is an independent alliance of leading law firms in Africa. It is the largest and most integrated grouping of its kind in Africa, with close working relationships across its members and an established network of “Best Friends” across the continent.

By being based on the ground we offer added value through our understanding of how business operates in the relevant jurisdictions, our connections with local regulators, and our experience dealing with local issues. With ALN you get the benefit of internationally-trained lawyers who live and work where the deals are happening. ALN member firms are singularly placed to provide local, regional and cross-border legal services in all the ALN jurisdictions, and have the ability to manage deals across jurisdictions using a “one-stop shop” approach.

Each ALN member firm is a recognised leader on the continent with a strong track record in advising domestic, regional and international clients on commercial and legal issues. Our members offer a deep understanding of the sectors and industries in which clients operate as well as the risks and opportunities of doing business in Africa’s rapidly changing markets.
